Spring.
I have a fresh fondness for a good spring thaw, this year.
The cherry blossoms at the UW Quad were glorious, as always. There was the usual undaunted Seattle crowd there, midday on a Wednesday which was even rainier than the norm. Maybe a third of us were there to actively take photos; I think many (though obviously not all) of us have a loner streak, and it's companionable and nice to share that look-and-nod with others. 'Hey, I see you with that cool lens, isn't this lovely?' without words.
This year, actual cherry blossom photos were not in the cards for me, but I still got something expressive, which will be a new addition in the Seattle gallery shortly after this post goes up. Quite glad I went out. I dearly love the long grey in the Pacific Northwest, but we have some other really excellent seasons. The past month was the longest photography break in a while, and the light is changing.
